Elroy's Fine Foods
About This Spot
Stepping into Elroy’s Fine Foods in Monterey feels like uncovering a hidden treasure tucked into a quiet corner of Soledad Drive. The moment you enter, there’s a gentle calmness—an invitation to slow down and browse thoughtfully amidst a space that blends the charm of a farmers market with the curated ease of a boutique. Soft floral arrangements mingle with artfully displayed homewares, creating an atmosphere that’s both welcoming and intriguingly eclectic.
Here, the pace is unhurried. Shoppers glide through aisles lined with a carefully chosen array of organic and specialty items that spark curiosity. It’s a place where the everyday grocery run feels more like a discovery, with shelves that surprise and invite a closer look: local vegetables that change with the seasons, rare spices, fresh foraged mushrooms, and a spectrum of goods suited to a variety of dietary rhythms. That sense of thoughtfulness extends to an accommodating and knowledgeable staff, who add warmth to the experience with their friendly presence and helpful insights.
For those seeking ingredients not just as staples but as ingredients of a story, Elroy’s offers something quietly special. The store’s deli and coffee bar add a touch of conviviality, encouraging brief pauses to savor tastes and conversations before continuing the search for that unique find. While not every corner is overflowing, the selection feels intentionally measured, inviting patrons to savor quality over quantity and to appreciate the small moments of connection—from the gleam of a freshly stocked display to the subtle textures of gluten-free treats.
In many ways, Elroy’s Fine Foods is a neighborhood retreat for those who enjoy a thoughtful approach to shopping—where the focus is on genuine options that nourish both body and curiosity, and where each visit offers a chance to encounter the uncommon in the everyday.

What a neat concept! We were in the area visiting Nece’s gluten free bakery — and we were drawn to the logo of a bear and the word “uncommon” below the icon. Walking in we were struck by the floral creations and the curated homewares that would make GREAT gifts. The aisles of packaged goods are nicely laid out — really appreciate the selection of items, many which were new to us. Wish we had known that there was a gluten-free breakfast burrito available earlier in our stay. Also appreciated the coffee bar and smoothie bar. The bakery items looked so delicious and fresh — though none were gluten free, I can always appreciate the creations.

I love this place for all my gourmet food needs, they always have kind clerks and I often get lost in all the cool products on the shelves. If you need unique culinary ingredients- probably come by here and check. They even have specialty fresh foraged mushrooms, microgreens and a ridiculously extensive selection of local veggies, spices, beers, etc. Its like a farmers market in a …. brick and mortar market? Haha there are also delicious deli counter options, and a cafe. Yes, it is pricey, its gourmet baby. But carries a ton of local and I love that!

I love the front area of the store just as you walk in. The area is refreshed frequently with a curated collection of foods, gifts and decor. Not necessarily local but of interest to locals. The produce is reliably fresh with unique varieties. Limited dry goods but they often have unique or hard to find items. I certainly can't stock our complete pantry and refegerator but we always come out of Elroy's with a few finds and new favorites.

Cute lil organic market with a bulk foods section, prepared foods/deli & coffee bar. Military and first responder discounts, i think senior too.

Love the curation. They mark the different brands with tags if they’re women or AAPI or other minority businesses. Also lots of local businesses carried inside too. There is hot food and fast lunch inside plus a drink bar where you can get coffee and assorted drinks. Plus a bulk foods section!!

Is it possible to fall in love with a market, because I think I just did. From their incredible selection of local produce: figs, shallots, micro greens..; to the vast selection of freshly cooked foods, side dishes, salads, desserts, at the deli counter; to their selection of handpicked local and natural wines; Elroy’s is exactly what the Monterey community has needed. I look forward to every trip to this market and I’ll be working my way down their sandwich menu over the coming weeks. If the rest are as good as their “Charcuterie Sammie” I’m in for a treat. Support local businesses, shop Elroy’s.

Beautiful store with lots of exciting exclusive finds. I loved picking up some Gogi berries and figs. Just be careful not to step behind the counter on the nuts area. It might appear like a self serve area but it’s not. A worker sarcastically asked me if I worked there and if she can help me with something. Lol just don’t be me. I really appreciate the workers expertise. Like I ordered an iced tea and cappuccino and gosh they were both so tasty. Hoping to try one of their salads out soon too and yeah I really recommend :)
